Dan Morrell, better known as the The Mixmaster, has been throwing high powered parties for over ten years throughout the Midwest, and his company Mixmaster Throwdown continues the hard-partying paradigm in Chicago and the suburbs. As MMTD approaches their 1,000^th event, Dan took a moment to talk to IMAGE.

IMAGE: How many events does MMTD handle a year?

Dan Morrell: Mixmaster Throwdown has handled between 150-200 events per year for the last five years we are steadily approaching our 1,000 event!

IMAGE: What's the worst disaster you've had to work through at an event?

DM: Dealing with celebrities can be a rewarding but taxing experience on your patience. Most of the time the celebrity isn't even the problem, it’s their entourage. I won't say which artist, but this rappers manager tried to double the price and refuse to let the artist perform, only appear. Fortunately we had announced the artist's arrival and at that point it would have been a publicity and legal nightmare for the artist not to go through with the terms that we originally agreed to. The show went off with out a hitch!

IMAGE: Besides DJing and production, what other areas of music do you enjoy?

DM: I love watching live music of any kind. It's such a rush to see the energy building up by being volleyed back and forth between the artist and an audience. I live for that!

IMAGE: What are your plans for expanding MMTD?

DM: Besides being an artist, I enjoy developing other artists who share my passion and talent, leading us to launch our new record label later this year. We have all of the tools, and systems in play to develop new artists and compete with 90% of the labels in business today. The other 10% better step their game up because we've got some big plans! In addition to the record label you can expect to see more corporate sponsored and celebrity driven private events by Mixmaster Throwdown in the immediate future as well.

IMAGE: Where can you be found in your free time?

DM: Working out, jogging with the dog, spending time with family and friends, or in relaxing Vegas!
